New England Clam Chowder
New England clam chowder belongs to a family of chowders that is made from milk or cream often with onions and celery. New England in particular is thicker than most chowders and doesn’t dare include tomatoes. In fact, in 1930 Maine introduced legislation to ban tomatoes in clam chowder, but it luckily didn’t pass. We don’t want to offend the food police so we will not add tomatoes.
